Celiac disease and a low-gluten diet

Is Thai food suitable for celiacs or those following a low-gluten diet?

The short answer is yes - excellently.

The Thai diet includes very little grain. Instead, gluten-free starch sources such as rice and tapioca are used.

However, the oyster and soy sauces used in many Thai dishes may contain small amounts of wheat. In a low-gluten diet, this likely does not matter, but for more sensitive celiacs, it is important to always check the ingredients.

Gluten-free dishes

All gluten-free dishes at Little Thai restaurant can be easily identified by the gluten-free tag. To some people's surprise, most of our noodle dishes are among them because we use rice noodles. Our Pad Thai sauce is also gluten-free because we do not add soy sauce or wheat thickener to it.

Low-gluten dishes

In principle, all our dishes that do not contain deep-fried or breaded protein are low-gluten unless they are gluten-free. For example, Vegetable wok can be fried in oyster or soy sauce, which means it may contain a small amount of wheat. You can always check the exact contents of the dishes with our staff and ask to swap or leave something out!
